About the Founder
Andy Burr is a dad, musician, artist, entrepreneur, recovering bureaucrat, and former journalist. He has strong feelings about the U.S. constitution (good), cancel culture (bad), people over the age of 10 who put two spaces after a period (infuriating), and Marvin Gaye’s performance of the national anthem at the 1983 NBA All-Star Game (magical).
Andy co-founded a technology startup in 2019, serving as CEO and overseeing a successful exit to a financial services firm in 2022. He held multiple roles at the U.S. Department of Energy from 2014-2019, leading a major intergovernmental initiative announced by the Obama Administration in 2016. Prior to public service, Andy led policy strategy and advocacy for a climate advocacy nonprofit and co-directed a $20 million special climate project in partnership with U.S. mayors and philanthropic leaders. He began his career in the news division of CoStar Group (NASDAQ: CSGP), a global real estate technology company.
He has advised major U.S. presidential campaigns on climate action and spoken internationally on energy policy in Europe and China. Andy graduated from Bucknell University and is a lifelong Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, and Baltimore Orioles fan. He lives in the Washington, DC, area with his wife and daughter.
